CW: fucked up imagery involved in Fault and FollySETTING: a big honkin museum on Earth
- This museum should be an incredible conglomerate of the Met meets Nat History museum, super large, larger than even the players get to experience, to the point where they are courteously notified of what floor a murder happens on if we end up with TOO MUCH going on. Floor ideas consist of:
* PREHISTORIC HUMANS AND DINO BONES
* ANCIENT CLASSICAL CIVILIZATIONS
* THE RAD AWESOME TAXIDERMY OF ANIMALS FLOOR with an inexplicable lifesize model whale hanging from the ceiling in one of the rooms? And there should be offshoot film rooms playing a variety of short documentaries narrated a la
True Facts style, same guy doing the voice and everything
* HANDICRAFTS AND TEXTILES THROUGH THE AGES (includes clothes, furniture? idk lots of stuff)
* god there should be one room full of fuckin rocks like the Hall of Gems in the MoNH pls just a big room full of cool ass rocks
* DIORAMAS OF INTERNATIONAL HISTORICAL EVENTS depicted in miniature. Cowboy!Owen Wilson is in there somewhere and so is his Roman soldier boyfriend, yeah they gay keep scrolling
* Can we just have a floor dedicated to the history of media, like music and newspapers and books and movies and all the way up to a historical record of all Vines, but suspiciously you can't find anything from your character's specific canon (so if MCU Cap America is there, you can't find any of the MCU movies but you sure can find the Fox X Men movies, or all the old attempts at Cap America movies)
* The Uncomfortable Topics Room which is going to have all the horrible things in it like politics and religion, etc
* The fucking attic should have like, actual offices for employees who aren't there and stored backlogs of exhibits not on display, resource materials, encyclopedias, and also probably like the key answers for endgame
- Trial room is in the basement, of course
- Initial first floor should have a grand hall (an entryroom but the doors and windows are welded shut and the windows are painted over with black inside and out); a gift shop with a capsule regain machine as well as, you know, just pilfer whatever you want from there for clothes and shit; a cafeteria with ready-made food things that are refreshed overnight (and for some reason the rice pudding always has exuberant price tags on it despite characters not having to pay for their food?) and a small kitchen where I
guess you can make some non-complicated things for yourself; a room for first aid and emergencies; a soundproof wing that contains doors to everyone's rooms, bathroom facilities, and a small lounge area.
* The soundproof wing should clearly have been rigged from, say, a former exhibit by the Mastermind, but also they did a damn good job of making this some kind of sealed and perfectly safe interior! Characters should have a personal key card or something on their persons that lets them into the wing and into their rooms only (dead characters' rooms unlock after body discovery and/or successful trials).
- Why a soundproof, sealed-off sleeping quarters? uuuh we're going Night at the Museum on this shit, Exhibits of animals and especially those dioramas WILL come the fuck to life after curfew at 10pm, so like, you
could go out there and traipse around at your own risk (or to murder someone) but you could also possibly be mauled by a living T Rex skeleton if you're in the Dino exhibit, so, pls watch yourself. Maybe mods can roll dice on which floor has things coming to life for each night as more floors open up?
- First floor also has a special exhibit called
Fault and Folly * This! Is where! The fucked up magic happens!
* scroll down to the next line in all bold to avoid the real fucked up stuff
* Fault and Folly starts off as an empty room. Coincidentally, it is also the room through which characters must walk through to reach the elevator that only goes down to the trial room, (the elevator will be locked and inoperable all other times). Motives are also announced in Fault and Folly
* After a successful trial, characters will come up back through the room to find that an area of Fault and Folly has been sectioned off with super heavy tarps rigged in from ceiling to floor. They can't be moved, parted, or removed.
* Characters will also be instructed to take whatever mementos they want of the dead before the end of the day on Sunday. After that, the rooms of the dead will be temp locked from 12:00 am to 11:59pm all Monday. Anyone not the deceased in the rooms at the time will be booted out. The doors will unlock that Tuesday, with a notable amount of the deceased's belongings or personal touches removed. Some things might remain, but it's clear that someone went rummaging around in here
* Tuesday is traditionally the motive day! Characters come to Fault and Folly, are given their new motive, and the tarped-off section is revealed to show the following DISTURBING CONTENT:
* Surprise, the dead have been made into lifesize dioramas! Is this people taxidermy? Really convincing wax models? Only the Mastermind knows!!! The diorama is behind glass and depicts characters meeting their end, whether they were punished or got into an accident with the nighttime living displays, or were murdered or got executed! The personal effects taken from their rooms are used "artistically" in the display, as well as discovered murder weapons and the like
* Yeah Tim it's fucked up!!!
* Obvs for characters who wouldn't leave behind a physical form you can actively tell, the model of them in the case is very accurate but still a model. For those who did leave remains? God you just cannot tell by sight alone it's very disturbing. Ex: a Gem from Steven Universe would have their gem shards incorporated into the display but the physical form you were used to seeing is a wax model of some kind, same for the monsters of Undertale, their dust is contained in the display but there's still a model there. But Jim Everyman who got shanked in the shower? God you absolutely cannot tell if someone taxidermied him after you had to handle his corpse and it is
pure nightmare fuelokay you're safe from the fucked up shit nowMASTERMIND: The Curator
- WHO'S THIS DOUCHEBAG?
* :3
* Mastermind is the host! They will show up on screens that just sort of pop up like holograms throughout the museum and act like two-way communications. They are clearly broadcasting from Somewhere Else, and whether or not they actually show up in the flesh is yet to be seen
* Some basic info beyond this is available upon request but I don't have this douchebag fleshed out completely, I just threw concepts on a wall to see what sticks
WHO CAN COME TO MURDER MUSEUM
Applicable canons:
- Books, movies, TV shows, anime, manga, cartoons, video games, plays, musicals (canon cap is 2 characters per canon)
- OCs are more than welcome; however, we will limit the cap to 2 OCs to keep in fairness with the canon character cap
- CRAUs are not allowed
- A canon point for a character should have aired/been released at least three (3) months from the date of application. For example, you can app the Doctor from Doctor Who from any regeneration, but unless the canon point is from three months ago, you would not be able to app the 13th Doctor.
* HOWEVER, if you would like to canon update a character to a newer point (ex: bring us Jodi Whitaker) we can negotiate the means to do so
NO CRAUS? BUT, MURDERGAME CRAUS ARE SO GOOD!!!!!
- look if the mods from such and such game are cool with you bringing a character after one murderfest into another then we can hash something out but if I'd limit this to one (1) CRAU of a specific game
- I'd also apply this as a one (1) character limit to original characters that were made for murdergames if the mods wanted to play them. For Example: you could have Bolton OR Jamie from Airlocked, but not both of them. (Ri, Lynny, don't you fucking dare, let them rest)
HEY MAYBE THE GAME COULD BE FOR NONHUMAN OR PARTLY HUMAN CHARACTERS ONLY? just a thought
okay that's all the ideas i have that are safe to share right now
